HK couplings are so designed that, when the coupling is being connected, the seal is made before the valves open to allow fluid to flow. On disconnection the valves close to seal off both ends of the line before the main coupling seal is broken.
Hansen HK couplings are available in nine basic sizes with end connections ranging from 1/8" - 3", covering most commonly-used hose bore sizes.
Materials available include steel, brass and stainless steel,
with various optional seal compounds such as nitrile, Viton,
EPDM, etc.
