PULSATRON TANKS CLEAN CEREMONIAL SWORD BLADES
Ultrasonics remove polishing compound and heat scale
Two of Guyson International’s Kerry Pulsatron systems are together providing a cleaning process capable of transforming metal blackened by heat treatment into shiny sword blades with the mirror finish essential for ceremonial and military occasions.
The stainless steel blades emerge from heat treatment hardened but with a black scale which is only partially removed by polishing. Cleaning is then possible in high concentrations of hydrochloric acid, but for reasons of Health and Safety the manufacturers wished to discontinue use of such strong acids. Now, after polishing, the blades undergo ultrasonic cleaning in a KS 1500 tank containing a strong alkaline, which removes polishing compound. This is followed immediately by an ultrasonic acid clean in the stage 1 tank of a UCR 1500, to remove all remaining heat scale. The blades are then immersion and spray rinsed in mains water in the second stage of the UCR system.
Hand drying completes the process, leaving sword surfaces immaculate and polished, fit for the most demanding ceremonial.
KS ultrasonic tanks and UCR ultrasonic clean and rinse systems come in a range of sizes: standard KS tanks up to 248 litre capacity, UCRs to 117 litres. Larger sizes are available to special order.
