Six Guyson Cellmatic aqueous degreasing systems have been installed at the Toyota Deeside plant to clean Avensis vehicle suspension
rear carriers. In a design partnership, Guyson and Toyota developed the aqueous degreasing process to meet the needs of the Toyota
Production System (TPS).
Toyota manufactures the suspension rear carriers at their Deeside plant supplying the Avensis assembly plant in Burnaston near Derby.
The responsibility on Deeside being the single source for these suspension parts, requires great reliance to be placed on the suppliers
of new machinery. The TPS philosophy required a washer to be integrated into a cellular machining line for single piece flow lean production.
VENDOR APPROVAL PROCESS
First, successful cleaning trials were carried out in the Guyson test and demonstration centre, giving the Deeside engineers confidence
that Guyson had the technology to meet their needs. Guyson then hosted audits, submitted proposals and received approval first from Toyota
Europe headquarters and ultimately from a team of Japanese engineers.
EXPERIENCE IN DESIGN FOR LEAN MANUFACTURE
Guyson's wealth of experience in supplying global tier 1 manufacturers with lean wash and blast cell systems allowed the project to run
smoothly for Toyota. Key project criteria which were met by Guyson included:
Maximum operator productivity
Minimum work in progress
Minimum floor space usage
Ease of maintenance
Equipment design proofed against future component designs
