Q.
Can you recommend a suitable detergent for my wash machine?
A.
For general degreasing applications, Guyson Formula 10Plus is available in 25 litre containers.
This concentrated product can be used in all Guyson washing machines to give high performance
degreasing combined with corrosion protection on all metals.

Q.
I’m never sure if the detergent concentration in my wash tank is correct. How can I tell?
A.
During use, the water and detergent will start to evaporate or be lost through the extraction
system and the initial balance can alter. If your process requires a more precise control over
the detergent concentration, an add on Guyson Detergent Dosing unit, that can be preset to
specific concentration percentages, may well be the answer.

Q.
I’m washing oily components and after time, the washing solution is full of oil as well. Can I remove these oils and extend the period between emptying the tank and refilling with fresh water and new detergent?
A.
There are many different types of oils that are used in engineering processes and the
effectiveness of any separator system will be dependent upon their properties. Non-soluble
tramp oil can be removed from the surface of the wash solution using a disc skimmer system.
However, this method requires the washing process to be stopped, to allow the oil to float to
the surface.
Where continuous production is involved, a better solution is to specify a Guyson Coalescing
Oil Separator system with the wash tank. This system constantly removes contaminated wash
solution, removes the oil and returns cleaned solution to the tank. Additionally, if soluble
oils are used, many of these can be "cracked" using modern detergents and these also can best
be removed by using the Coalescing Oil Separator system.

Q.
The performance of my wash machine doesn’t seem to be as good as it was when it was new. What could have changed?
A.
There are a number of factors that will have changed since the equipment was first used.
For instance, filters and wash jets may become blocked as debris is removed from the components
being washed. Detergent concentrations may have varied and greases or oils could have built up
at certain points in the machine, again restricting flows. Similarly, the performance of the
wash pump may have deteriorated over time. Also, if the machine has more than one heating
element, one may have failed giving a reduced wash temperature. Any of these problems, either
singly or combined, may now be contributing to a general drop in performance.
Look through the manual for further details regarding your specific machine and then check each
area in turn. If you need further assistance, please call Customer Service.
Remember that a visit by a qualified Guyson Service Engineer could well repay you in terms of
better cleaning and reduced cycle times.
