Saftimetal is used for general engineering, surface treatment and refurbishment applications.

Applications

Saftimetal is ideal for the removal of corrosion, paint, weld scale etc. and the preparation of surfaces prior to painting, bonding.

Turbogrit

Guyson Turbogrit is heat-treated carbon steel grit. When new, Turbogrit is angular however, during use the sharp edges will become round, allowing the blasting process to combine the mass effect of shot, with the cutting edge of grit. Turbogrit would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure feed blast systems, but some of the smaller grits could also be used in suction feed systems.

Applications

Turbogrit is ideally suited for cleaning, roughening, descaling and for blasting as preparation before coating metallic workpieces.

Turbobead

Guyson Turbobead is a heat-treated carbon steel bead with a uniform Martensitic structure, providing excellent resilience and resistance to fatigue. This powerful abrasive is best suited for the surface treatment of metallic products, and would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure feed blast systems, but some of the smaller beads could also be used in suction feed systems.

Applications

Shot peening, reconditioning, cleaning, deburring and preparing ferrous surfaces.

Flexgrain

Guyson Flexgrain is a specially produced soft iron bead with exceptional cleaning properties. The shot multiplies its effectiveness during blasting, due to the ricochet effect. The non-aggressive nature of the product allows Flexgrain to be used for gentle removal of surface deposits, without damage to sensitive substrates. Flexgrain would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure feed blast systems, but is still effective when used in suction feed systems.

Applications

Cleaning and reconditioning without dimensional change, as well as carbon and light corrosion removal.

Loygrain

Guyson Loygrain is an extremely soft, organic granule made of cleaned, broken and sieved corn spindles. Just like Guyson Walnut Shell, Loygrain is made from 100 % renewable raw materials. The Loygrain is absorbent and will remove light oil or fluid on the surface being treated. As the media is soft, there is little chance of damage to component substrates.

Applications

Removal of corrosion and carbon from automotive components and electrical equipment, deflashing and cleaning without dimensional change, removing soils from marine turbines.

Walnut Shell

Guyson walnut shell blast media is an extremely soft, organic reusable blasting agent made from broken, cleaned and sieved walnut shells. Due to their low hardness, the nutshell granules are used mainly for surface applications without any loss of substance in the base material. Nutshell granules are an extremely environmentally friendly product made from 100% renewable raw materials.

Applications

Removal of corrosion and carbon from automotive components and electrical equipment, deflashing, deburring and cleaning without dimensional change, cleaning marine turbines and removing paint.

Bicarbonate of Soda

Guyson Bicarbonate of Soda is manufactured specifically for impact blast finishing applications. It is a high purity, inorganic compound, suitable for gentle cleaning, without any removal of material on the base body. This blast media can be used as a drying agent and, mixed with a water mist, also as a wet abrasive. Bicarbonate of Soda cannot be recycled and is considered a one-pass blast media.

Applications

Light surface preparation, cleaning of sensitive surfaces, removal of coatings and contamination from metals (ferrous and non-ferrous), fibre glass and wood. Graffiti and smoke removal from structures and objects located in the open.

Guyblast

Guyson Guyblast, commonly known as US type 2 plastic media, is a urea based thermoset resin granulated to produce jagged angular shapes that clean with a unique chipping and shearing action. Without the aggression of mineral or metallic media, Guyblast is ideal for cleaning more delicate products or removing surface residue and coatings whilst leaving the substrate undamaged. Guyblast is the most common and popular of the “soft impact” plastic media and is often used for dry stripping on composite and aluminium products.

Available to Rolls Royce CSS227 quality standard.

Applications

Removal or paint, coating and carbon, and light flash from die castings or burrs from machined parts. As well as deflashing electronic components and cleaning mould, die and tools.

Flashgrit

Guyson Flashgrit, commonly known as US Type 5 plastic media, is a specially produced soft acrylic thermoplastic blast media, often specified for military and aerospace dry stripping.

Flashgrit is manufactured to comply with US Military specification MIL-P-85891A and Rolls-Royce CSS227 standards.

Applications

Removal of paint and coatings from aluminium and composite materials, whilst leaving the substrate undamaged.

Guystrip

Guyson Guystrip, commonly known as US Type 3 plastic media, is an amino based thermoset resin, granulated to produce jagged angular shapes that clean with a unique chipping and shearing action. Guystrip is the hardest and most aggressive of the “soft impact” plastic media. Bridging the gap between harsh mineral media and the soft natural products, Guystrip is ideal for cleaning more delicate products or removing surface residue and coatings whilst leaving the substrate undamaged.

Available to Rolls Royce CSS227 quality standard.

Applications

Removal or paint, coating and carbon, and light flash from die castings or burrs from machined parts. As well as deflashing electronic components and cleaning mould, die and tools.

Flashgrain

Guyson Flashgrain is a polycarbonate thermoplastic product. Hard, non-abrasive and dust free during blasting, Flashgrain is the toughest of the impact deflashing plastic products and it retains its cylindrical shape during blasting.

Applications

Deflashing standard thermoset and reinforced thermoset plastic mouldings and die castings, deburring machined metallic or sintered components.
