Saftigrain
Guyson Saftigrain is an economy blast media consisting mainly of a blend of brown, white and pink alumina. This product is obtained by reclaiming ceramic bonded grinding wheels and other products used within the abrasives industry.
It is a general purpose abrasive and can be specified for applications where a ferrous content (up to 1%) is acceptable.

Sinterball
Guyson Sinterball is a high quality aluminium oxide blast medium specifically developed to provide excellent cutting power and durability. It is often used as an alternative to Brown Saftigrit. Sinterball is manufactured by sintering various mineral compounds at high temperature to produce a hard, dense, spherical medium.
Due to its method of manufacture, Sinterball wears surfaces away rather than relying on the jagged profile associated with normal alumina products. This provides low dust levels and a longer product life. As the particle size remains more consistent, Sinterball is manufactured in only a few selected mesh sizes.

Saftimetal
Guyson Saftimetal is a high quality, chilled hematite cast iron abrasive with excellent performance characteristics. Throughout its use, the grit remains sharp edged and will produce a clean and bright surface finish. This product has a superior service life than standard chilled iron and with its slow breakdown rate, dust problems are minimal. It is also referred to as angular iron grit.
Saftimetal would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure blast systems and is much harder than the equivalent Turbogrit steel abrasive.

Turbogrit
Guyson Turbogrit is heat-treated carbon steel grit, produced by crushing oversized shot pellets. When new, this product is
angular but during use, the sharp edges will become round. This allows the blasting process to combine the mass effect of shot with the cutting edge of grit.
Turbogrit would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure blast systems, but some of the smaller grits could also be used in suction feed systems.
General engineering, surface treatment and refurbishment applications. Turbogrit is ideal for the removal of corrosion, paint, weld scale etc. and the preparation of surfaces prior to painting, bonding etc.
Turbobead
Guyson Turbobead is heat-treated carbon steel bead with a uniform Martensitic structure. This provides excellent resilience and resistance to fatigue. The rounded shape remains during use and the shot multiplies its effectiveness during blasting due to the ricochet effect. Wear on blast equipment is minimised and the media itself has an excellent blast life.
Turbobead would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure blast systems, but some of the smaller beads could also be used in suction feed systems.

Flexgrain
Guyson Flexgrain is a specially produced soft iron bead with exceptional cleaning properties. The rounded shape remains during use and the shot multiplies its effectiveness during blasting due to the ricochet effect. The non-aggressive nature of the product allows it to be used for gentle removal of surface deposits without damage to sensitive substrates. Wear on blast equipment is minimised and the media itself has an excellent blast life, which reduces dust to very low levels.
Flexgrain would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure blast systems, but is still effective when used in suction feed systems.
Cleaning and reconditioning without dimensional change e.g. mould and die cleaning. Also carbon and light corrosion removal.
Flexgrit
Guyson Flexgrit is a specially produced soft iron bead with exceptional cleaning properties. The rounded shape appears more obvious during use as the media becomes conditioned and the shot multiplies its effectiveness during blasting due to the ricochet effect. The non-aggressive nature of the product allows it to be used for gentle removal of surface deposits without damage to sensitive substrates. Wear on blast equipment is minimised and the media itself has an excellent blast life, which reduces dust to very low levels.
Flexgrit would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure blast systems.
Cleaning and reconditioning without dimensional change e.g. mould and die cleaning. Also carbon and light corrosion removal.

Turbonox would generally be used in wheel/ turbine or pressure blast systems.
Cleaning, deburring and finishing all non - ferrous surfaces wherever ferrous embedding would cause discolouration or trace surface corrosion.
Turbolloy
Guyson Turbolloy is a specially produced cut wire product manufactured from brass wire. There are limited applications and this product is not specified very often, partly due to its high cost.
Turbolloy would generally be used in wheel/turbine or pressure blast systems, but is still effective when used in suction feed systems.

Guygrain
Guyson Guygrain is a polyester based thermoset resin, polymerised with styrene monomer plus pigments and additives. It is then granulated to produce jagged angular shapes that clean with a unique chipping and shearing action. Without the aggression of other media, this product is ideal for cleaning more delicate products or removing surface residue and coatings whilst leaving the substrate undamaged.
It is the least aggressive and least common of the “soft impact” plastic media and can be used for dry stripping i.e. paint removal applications using pressure blast equipment at relatively low pressures.
It is commonly known as US type 1 plastic media.

Guystrip
Guyson Guystrip is an amino based thermoset resin, granulated to produce jagged angular shapes that clean with a unique chipping and shearing action. Bridging the gap between harsh mineral media and the soft natural products, Guystrip is ideal for cleaning more delicate products or removing surface residue and coatings whilst leaving the substrate undamaged.
It is the hardest and most aggressive of the “soft impact” plastic media and is often used for dry stripping i.e. paint removal applications using pressure blast equipment at relatively low pressures. When used for cleaning or deburring without dimensional change, sharp edges are retained as the hardness of the product is significantly less than that of a machined metallic product or tool/die.
It is commonly known as US type 3 plastic media.
Available to Rolls Royce CSS227 quality standard.

Loygrain
Guyson Loygrain is a biodegradable, natural product, made entirely from the woody portions of corn cob. As well as having blast cleaning properties, the cob is absorbent and will remove light oil or fluid on the surface being treated. As the product is quite soft, there is little chance of damage to component substrates. It can also be used for non-blasting applications such as the removal of soils from marine turbines etc.

Ceramic
Zirblast and Zirshot
Guyson Zirblast and Zirshot are high quality fused ceramic beads manufactured from crystalline zirconia bonded with amorphous silica. Both products have a very slow breakdown rate and as such are ideal for impact finishing operations involving automated machinery, where consistency of finish is important. Additionally, dust levels generated are considerably lower than with the equivalent glass bead.
Whilst both products are chemically identical, quality checks to roundness, surface defects etc allows Zirshot to be certified to the demanding standards of aerospace shot peening applications. Zirblast is designed for all other impact finishing applications and is available at a more economic price.
Zirshot can be supplied with certification to most aerospace standards should these be required.
Being chemically inert and iron-free products, these beads can be used for a wide variety of applications such as cleaning without dimensional change, shot peening, stress relieving, deburring, scale removal etc
Expendable
Iron Silicate
Guyson Iron Silicate is often better known by its original name of copper slag. It is a very cost effective, expendable, synthetic mineral abrasive, manufactured from the waste granulated slag produced by copper refineries.
In appearance, the product is glassy and it tends towards brittle fracture upon impact, which produces a great deal of dust. This property means that it is only suited to use in open blasting applications and should not be used in any re-circulating systems.
However, if used as intended, the abrasive nature of the product makes it ideal for rapid corrosion removal prior to a re-coating process.
Users should be mindful of the fact that although not harmful to health, the black dust created should be regarded as a nuisance by anyone coming into contact with it.
Mainly site blasting applications e.g. removal of corrosion and paint prior to recoating. Typical users would be contract blasters working on site, cleaning steelwork, commercial vehicle chassis etc.
