Trainee Field Sales Engineer - National, England & Wales

Guyson International Limited, leading British manufacturer of industrial finishing equipment including manual and fully automated or robotic solutions, is looking for a Trainee Sales Engineer to support existing accounts and grow sales nationally for our standard products.

LOCATION: Primarily office based, making territory visits regularly in support of sales activities. TERRITORY: National, England & Wales

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Sales of Guyson capital equipment, consumables, spares and services to a wide variety of industrial customers.

SALARY: c £25k - £30k- basic depending on experience (c £40K - £50k OTE)

BONUS SCHEME: Commission on all equipment sales with OTE up to £15k - £20k.

KEY SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Full training will be provided to establish the following skills in addition to your own enthusiasm

  • Sales acumen and business development skills, selling into the engineering, manufacturing and MRO sectors.
  • Experience in pro-actively developing new opportunities and maintaining long term business relationships with existing and potential customers.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, with ability to present confidently technical solutions at all levels.
  • Good technical background and engineering knowledge with the ability to describe and report a technical or production process to Guyson engineering department for evaluation and costing.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills. Typically, the role will be office based to organise and plan sales activities; including and arranging territory visits to new and existing customers, following up leads and prospecting.
  • Must be computer literate - capable of using Guyson CRM system, which involves maintaining good and comprehensive records, inputting data, updating account information and uploading relevant documentation.
  • A recognised target driven approach, capable of working towards a sales budget. Will provide accurate information through CRM relating to activities, number of leads, open opportunities and sales forecast on a day to day basis
  • Ability to adhere to Guyson company policies and processes, health and safety requirements and Company Handbook.
  • Full, clean driving license.

This role will suit someone with a current background in sales, customer service or similar, looking for career progression into a Field Sales role. An enthusiastic individual with a strong ambition to learn and an interest in engineering, particularly British manufactured equipment which over time will develop in to;

  • A confident Sales Engineer keen to develop and advance the territory.
  • A self-motivated, self-starter able to organise and plan largely on one’s own initiative.
  • Positive and enthusiastic character with influencing skills at all levels.
  • An ability to plan activities and customer visits over multiple days nationally, including overnight stays. This is a permanent position, subject to a 3 month trial period.

Hours:

Office Hours: 37.5 hour week

Monday to Thursday - 8.30 am – 5.00 pm

Friday - 8.30 am to 2.30 pm with a half hour lunch break each day

Territory Hours: As a Sales Engineer, you will be required to work the hours needed to fulfil your role in support of customers, Monday to Friday. No less than 37.5 hours per week.

Job Vacancy: Trainee Internal Sales Engineer

A position has become available at Guyson International Ltd (Hose and Couplings Division, Guiseley) for a:

Trainee Internal Sales Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To respond to customer enquiries and promote sales of the Division’s hose and coupling product ranges and other products sourced specifically for their requirements, offering technical sales advice and providing customers with sales quotations for the best solutions to their hose and coupling applications.

MAIN TASKS

  • Assessing customers’ technical sales enquiries and technical requirements received over the phone, by email or in person.
  • Providing prompt responses over the phone and by email to customers’ requests including sales quotations, technical information and advice.
  • Dealing with requests from our field Sales Team colleagues following on-site visits to customers including sales quotations, technical information and advice.
  • Liaising with suppliers and colleagues to establish best possible technical, lead-time and commercial response to customers.
  • Accurate and thorough technical and commercial contract review of sales orders received from customers.
  • Communicating and resolving with customers where any queries are identified between quotation and sales order.
  • Processing of reviewed sales orders on to company ERP system and providing sales order acknowledgements.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with ability to confidently present customers with technical and attractive sales solutions at all levels.
  • A technical or engineering/manufacturing background is beneficial with a good problem solving approach.
  • An understanding of general sales processes and techniques with an eagerness to grow sales.
  • Well organised to manage and prioritise workload on one’s own initiative.
  • Computer literate and have the ability for maintaining good and comprehensive records of customer requests, sales responses and general correspondences.
  • Hard working with a positive mind-set and enthusiastic character to work as a team player.
